Position Overview: We’re looking for experienced Drainlayers to join our team and contribute to a range of drainage installations across civil projects in the Waikato. This role offers long-term career potential within a growing company that values reliability, quality work, and professional development. You’ll be part of a motivated crew, working alongside skilled operators, supervisors, and engineers in a supportive and well-equipped environment. Key Responsibilities: * Install stormwater and wastewater drainage systems * Lay PVC, PE, and concrete pipes to grade * Work in and around trench shields and live services * Operate machinery where required (excavators, rollers, loaders) * Read and interpret site plans and levels * Maintain a safe, clean, and productive work environment Skills & Qualifications * Experience in civil drainage, including stormwater and wastewater installations * Comfortable working in trench shields and confined environments * Ability to read plans, shoot levels, and follow technical instructions * Strong problem-solving skills and a practical, hands-on mindset * Able to manage tasks independently while contributing to a team * Full New Zealand driver’s licence (Class 2 and WTR endorsements preferred) * Commitment to health and safety and maintaining a safe worksite * Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions * Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test What We Offer * Competitive salary and benefits package * A strong company culture focused on teamwork, respect, and quality service * Ongoing technical training in infrastructure and specialised equipment * Apprenticeship opportunities and support toward industry-recognised qualifications * Leadership development pathways for those progressing into senior roles * Mentoring from experienced industry professionals * Access to modern tools and technologies How to Apply: Send your CV and a short cover letter to careers@waipacivil.co.nz with the subject “Drainlayer”.
