Summary: Seeking a CNC Plasma Operator to precisely cut high-spec parts for heavy engineering, focusing on efficiency, quality, and industrial-scale production. Highlights: 1. Operate CNC Plasma table for high-spec part cutting from various steel plates 2. Manage material usage with efficient nesting and precise torch settings 3. Work in a stable heavy-engineering environment with modern equipment Master of the Flame: CNC Plasma Operator (Heavy Engineering)Location: Rotorua | Where Precision Meets Power Are you a pro at navigating a torch through steel plate? Do you have the skill to turn a flat sheet of metal into a puzzle of high-strength components? We are a leader in the Rotorua engineering sector, specializing in the massive structures that drive New Zealand’s timber, forestry, and marine industries. From heavy-duty conveyor parts to custom structural brackets, our workshop handles the big gear. We are looking for a CNC Plasma Operator who takes pride in clean cuts, efficient nesting, and industrial-scale production. The Role: Precision Cutting at ScaleThis isn't just about loading a program and walking away. You are the start of the production line—the person who ensures the fabricators have perfectly cut parts to build our heavy machinery. - Profile Cutting: Operating a CNC Plasma table to cut high-spec parts from various thicknesses of steel plate (and occasionally stainless or aluminum). - Nesting & Efficiency: Managing material usage to ensure minimal waste. You’ll be responsible for loading plates, setting gas pressures, and ensuring the torch height and speed are dialed in for a clean 'dross-free' finish. - Blueprint Literacy: Reading 2D DXF files and engineering drawings to verify that the parts you are cutting match the design specs exactly. - Plate Management: Using overhead cranes and forklifts to safely load massive steel sheets onto the cutting bed. - Quality First: Deburring parts where necessary and checking dimensions to ensure the 'fitters' can do their job without delays. What You’ll Bring to the Shop - CNC Plasma Experience: You have a solid background in operating CNC plasma or oxy-fuel cutting machines. - Software Savvy: You understand how to navigate machine software and make basic adjustments to programs or tool paths. - The 'Heavy' Mindset: You’re comfortable in a busy heavy-engineering environment where safety is the #1 priority. - Technical Eye: You can spot a bad cut or a worn nozzle before it ruins a whole sheet of expensive plate. - Licenses: A Forklift license and experience with overhead cranes are highly valued. Why Join the Team - Stability: Minimum 40 hours per week guaranteed—we have a massive pipeline of work. - Modern Equipment: Work with high-quality industrial cutting systems in a well-equipped workshop. - Team Culture: Join a motivated crew where your role is recognized as the 'engine room' of the fabrication process. Ready to fire up the torch? If you have the technical grit to handle industrial-scale cutting and the precision to get it right the first time, we want to hear from you. Ready to Join Us?
