Hands-on, team work, maintaining critical infrastructure safely. **Te kōwhiringa | The opportunity** We have an exciting opportunity for a **Water & Wastewater Treatment Operator** to join our Operations and Maintenance team in the Central North Island. This full-time role involves the operation, monitoring and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment assets, including raw water catchments and pump stations. You will be working within a team which is responsible for ensuring treatment systems operate reliably and in compliance with contractual, regulatory and environmental requirements. You'll carry out routine and emergency maintenance, complete inspections, collect regulatory samples and accurately record operational data. You'll also contribute to after-hours call-out support as part of a roster and be comfortable travelling between sites as required. This role is critical in ensuring communities receive safe, reliable water services while upholding Downer's Zero Harm and environmental standards. **Mōu | About you** To succeed in this role, you'll be responsible, safety-focused and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. You will also bring: * Knowledge of, or qualifications in, water and wastewater treatment systems (desirable) * Experience or interest in environmental sampling (training provided) * A current Class 1 driver licence (minimum) * Strong verbal and written communication skills, with confidence dealing with clients and the public * Good computer literacy, including data entry and online reporting systems * A proactive, self-motivated approach with strong initiative and risk awareness * The ability to work cooperatively within a team while managing tasks independently * Applicants must be willing to participate in an after-hours call-out roster and assist with emergency response when required. **Ko wai mātou | Our organisation** Downer is a leading provider of integrated services across Australia and New Zealand.
