Summary: This hands-on Maintenance Operator role ensures safe and efficient operation of water treatment plants through routine cleaning, inspections, and maintenance. Highlights: 1. Varied practical work supporting essential services * Help protect safe drinking water for the Wellington region * Hands-on role working across multiple treatment plants and catchment areas * Primary base Waterloo, but you work across the organisation This is a full-time position of 40 hours per week. The remuneration for this role is circa $62,000 p.a. (including KiwiSaver) depending on skills and experience The opportunity As a Maintenance Operator, you'll play a key role in keeping our metro water treatment plants operating safely and efficiently. You'll carry out weekly cleaning, inspections and basic maintenance across process systems and facilities, help maintain grounds and catchment areas, and support CIR checks. From time to time, you'll also assist trades staff on more complex works. This is a practical, varied role that directly supports safe, reliable drinking water for the region. Key responsibilities include the following: * Deliver routine cleaning, inspections and maintenance across treatment plant systems * Complete CIR checks, grounds care and basic facilities maintenance * Support trades staff with maintenance tasks when required * Respond to operational incidents and assist during emergency events * Follow and promote Health and Safety procedures, including safe isolation and chemical handling About you To be successful in this role you will bring the following: * Full New Zealand driver's licence * Basic building and mechanical skills * Experience using computerised asset or maintenance systems * Knowledge of Health and Safety practices and environmental management * Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role and work well in a team Benefits At Wellington Water, our purpose extends beyond delivering great water services for the region; we foster a thriving community, support a diverse workforce, and offer supportive development opportunities.
