Southland has been successfully delivering Tertiary Education foundation learning opportunities to youth and adult students for many years as part of our mission of Investing in the Next Generation.  Due to demand, we are looking for a new Education Tutor who has an abundance of passion for young people and their education and will share that with the education tutorial team based in Invercargill. Responsible for the planning, delivery and development of quality educational programmes (specifically Youth Guarantee) at the Y Education Centre. The Y education programmes are accountable to external funders with particular outcomes attached around achievement of NCEA credits (levels 1-2), plus qualifications as approved by the national PTE body, and foundation skills/qualifications to support the successful transition to further education, training and/or employment. Tutors must be able to teach students in a classroom setting while also managing the classroom and individual learning needs in a way which progresses them in a positive direction and engages them with learning. Equally they must have strong communication and organisational skills and be able to contribute to a team environment. Having a love of lifelong learning along with passion and a talent for working alongside youth, supporting them to navigate pastoral care needs and preparing them for both academic success and employment, is a crucial element of this role.  Our Ideal candidate would have: * 2-3 years proven experience in the education sector. * Undergraduate degree (or higher qualification) preferred. * Knowledge and experience in numeracy and literacy delivery * Experience or training in foundation education * NZQA Unit Standard 4098 or equivalent * Genuine respect for and enjoyment of working alongside young people.
