Downer is an industry leader in water, providing water services to a quarter of New Zealanders. We support our customers across the full asset life-cycle from the conceptual development of a project through design, construction, commissioning, and whole-of-life support and optimisation.
We have a great opportunity within our Northland team for at least three Water Servicepersons/Technicians, based in either Whangarei or Dargaville. We are looking for hardworking team players who take pride in delivering quality work and are committed to placing health & safety above all else.
The positions are all full-time (minimum 40 hours), permanent, paying an hourly wage between $29.66 - $33.00 an hour, dependent on experience and/or qualifications. This role is offered as part of a union; there are opportunities to earn overtime, penal rates, and stand-by rates.
The successful applicants will be able to experience a wide variety of work with opportunities to develop their skills within the industry. Your duties could include:
* Carrying out routine maintenance & repairs on the water infrastructure network
* Respond to faults on the water network
* Repairing, maintaining and installing minor infrastructure on the water network
* Reporting accurate data through an electronic device
**Nga pūkenga matua | Important Skills**
You will have a great attitude, be reliable and hardworking and will bring with you:
* An NZ Registered Level 4 qualification, or a minimum of three years' relevant experience in either water, wastewater or stormwater networks could substitute a formal qualification.
* Proven ability and competence in the care, maintenance and operation of plant and equipment
* Computer skills, being able to operate and input data into a mobile field device
* NZ Driver's License Class 1 minimum, Class 2 would be beneficial
* The ability to interact with the public respectfully.
