We are motivated by ensuring we are a district of connected communities who thrive and embrace opportunities and hold this greater purpose in mind in all that we do. **ABOUT THE ROLE - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA O TE TŪRANGA** In this role, you will help ensure our wastewater treatment plants and land disposal sites operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with resource consent requirements. **Your key responsibilities include:** * Operating WWTPs and Land Disposal Systems in line with procedures, consent conditions, and on‑call requirements * Carrying out operational checks, sampling, laboratory testing, and maintaining accurate operational records * Performing preventative maintenance and repairs on pumps, plant equipment, and effluent disposal systems * Making operational adjustments to optimise plant performance in response to changing process conditions, loading, environmental factors, and compliance requirements **WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - KEI TE KIMI MĀTOU I TĒNEI MOMO TANGATA** We're looking for someone who brings the right mix of technical ability, practical experience, and a positive, team‑focused attitude, with a proactive approach to identifying and managing operational risk. **We're seeking someone who:** * Brings a minimum of 3 years' experience in operations and takes personal ownership of plant performance and outcomes * Applies sound analytical thinking to investigate, troubleshoot and resolve faults rather than waiting for direction * Self-motivated and reliable, able to manage workload and priorities without constant supervision * Takes pride in the condition, presentation, and documentation of their work and work environment * Builds positive working relationships, contributes to team success, while being confident to step up and lead when required * Ideally has experience operating a wastewater treatment plant and working within Council compliance requirements * Holds (or is working towards) a National Certificate in Wastewater Treatment, with a National Diploma considered an advantage **WHAT WE OFFER - NGĀ ĀHUATANGA KEI A MĀTOU** Our people are accomplished, capable, and driven by curiosity to learn more - about the council, its impact, and their own potential.
