This permanent opportunity will see you working across critical water and wastewater infrastructure, helping ensure treatment assets operate safely, efficiently, and remain fully compliant. This role offers a mix of operational oversight, technical problem-solving, plant optimisation, and compliance management. Working closely with operational teams, you'll play an important role in maintaining reliable treatment processes while supporting continuous improvement across plant performance and service delivery. What you'll be doing: * Overseeing day-to-day treatment plant operations and maintenance activities to ensure reliable plant performance * Monitoring plant performance and supporting operational improvements across water and wastewater assets * Managing compliance requirements relating to resource consents, drinking water standards, and operational obligations * Leading troubleshooting activities and supporting maintenance planning initiatives * Driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and service delivery * Promoting strong health, safety, environmental, and quality practices across operations * Working closely with treatment plant operators to ensure assets are performing at optimum capacity * Supporting operational response activities and assisting with after-hours issues when required What we need from you: * Minimum 3 years' experience within the Three Waters industry with treatment operations experience * NZ Certificate or Diploma in Water/Wastewater Treatment (Level 5), or a qualification in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Process Engineering * Experience working with SCADA systems and treatment plant equipment * Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a proactive approach * High attention to detail and strong commitment to health, safety, quality, and environmental standards * Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across operational teams * Full Class 1 licence and confidence driving manual vehicles * Availability to assist with after-hours operational issues when required Bonus points if you have: * Experience across both water and wastewater treatment operations * Leadership or mentoring experience within operational teams * Additional industry certifications or technical training * Broader experience within Three Waters infrastructure environments If you're an experienced treatment operator looking for a permanent opportunity within essential infrastructure where you can make a direct impact on operational performance and community outcomes - apply now.
