Te Whare Whitinga o te Ra in Rotorua has an exciting and rare opportunity for a passionate, nurturing and pro-active Kaiako to be a part of our under two Ruma - Ngā Mokai (Commencing January 2026) About us - Te Whare Whitinga o te Ra is located in the Eastern suburb of Rotorua, a purpose-built environment placed on beautiful land of Te Roro o te Rangi. We are a 75 placed centre across 3 rooms - Ngā Mokai (0-2), Tuteniu (2-3), Uenukukopako (4-5). Our centre follows the values of Tikanga Māori, Whakawhanaungatanga and Manaakitanga. We are a Reo Rua education and pride ourselves in Te Ao Maori practises, enriched learning environment with reo and a willingness to learn. Our ideal candidate/s will have: • An ECE teacher qualification and registration as an ECE teacher in New Zealand (Full) • As a certificated teacher you are expected to demonstrate a full commitment and dedication to the implementation of the Teaching Council’s Code of Professional Responsibility and Standards for the Teaching Profession in your practice and to continue having ongoing growth in meeting these. • Experience in working with Under two ECE - desirable • Knowledge of legislation and ECE regulations relating to an early learning centre, and a willingness to maintain sector knowledge and professional development. • Sound knowledge and understanding of Te Whāriki curriculum • Experience with StoryPark, desirable • Ability to address challenges in a positive and proactive and constructive manner • Ability to lead others and support the growth and development of other teachers • Enthusiasm, energy and a focus on working with young children in an ever-changing environment • Competency in planning, curriculum and regular and emergent reviews • A personality that builds and develops strong relationships with staff and parents/whānau. • Strong professional ethics • A nurturing, caring disposition, and passion for supporting young children to thrive within their environment • Have good understanding of child development, ECE theories and practises. • The ability to build and maintain responsive relationships with tamaiti/tamariki and their whānau. A teacher who can use their initiative and be a team player. • Excellent communication skills, flexibility within our centre and willing to work across all age groups. • Understanding and implementation of Te Reo Māori me onā Tikanga is an advantage. • Hours for this role are based on full time hours (32-40 hours) working between the hours of 7.45 – 4.15pm.
