In 2025 we celebrated 65 years of Blackley ownership and operations, As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced Senior Contract Manager to join our leadership team and oversee the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion. The Role Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, profitably, and to the highest standards of quality. You will lead project teams, manage client relationships, and ensure compliance with all contractual obligations while identifying opportunities to maximise value and mitigate risk. Key Responsibilities: · Seek out new work, maintain and develop networks. · Ensure there is a pipeline of profitable work year-round. · Lead and manage the commercial performance of multiple infrastructure projects. · Oversee contract negotiation, administration, and compliance. · Manage cost forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to maintain profitability targets. · Provide strategic input on project planning, risk management, and value engineering. · Mentor and develop teams, promoting best practice and continuous improvement. · Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders. · Blackley is a member of Civil Construction New Zealand. There will be a need to attend branch and other meetings. About You: · Proven experience as a Senior Contract Manager or similar role within the civil engineering or infrastructure sector. · Strong working knowledge of Contract Lifecycle Management, and other standard forms of contract. Mastery of Construction Contract 3910. · Ability to negotiate and finalise contract terms. · Environmental and resource management knowledge is essential and an understanding of the new Fast-track Approvals Act 2024 is desirable. · Excellent commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to manage complex projects. · Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills. · Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience). · Full NZ driving licence and flexibility to travel across project sites. · Ability to manage team decisively and positively with HR support. · Team player- sometimes in a small business you need to be prepared to “get out of your lane” to get things done.
