Focus on positive team culture and customer satisfaction * Oversee the daily operations of our Wellington site (hands-on role) * Chance to add value to this dynamic, continuously growing business * Competitive salary and be part of the Leadership team About the Role We are looking for an Operations Manager to join the team in Wellington based in Upper Hutt. You will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Wellington branch alongside the Branch Manager for this national, highly successful freight company. Please note that as well as managing the team, this will also be a hands-on role and you will be expected to join the team on some of their daily duties - perfect for somebody who doesn't like to sit behind a desk all day. Therefore you must be physically fit. Please note they are generally quite long hours of around 07:00AM - 05:00PM (sometimes more during busy periods). Duties will include: * Lead and manage the on site team * Ensure all trucks depart on time and that linehaul freight adheres to the agreed schedule * Implement daily plans for metro truck utilisation and potentially bring in second cycles * Conduct weekly operations meetings with key staff * Present KPIs to the management team * Ensure servicing and COFs are completed * Ensure all function comply with Health and safety policies and guidelines * This role is hands-on - you will be expected to load etc when required * Will be driving trucks to fill in and take for servicing * Develop and maintain a positive on site culture amongst the team * Drive the team and make sure they demonstrate commitment to work completion, quality control and customer satisfaction * Prioritizing that all hazards and risks are identified and reduced - Health & Safety is paramount Key Skills & Requirements * Previous senior leadership in freight and logistics is essential * 'Hands-on' experience in a logistics environment * Must be Health & Safety focused and possess an excellent understanding of Health & Safety procedures * Ability to build strong customer and supplier relationships * Forklift license required, Class 2, 4 and 5 is advantageous * Effective communication skills and ability to be a decision-marker (you will be heavily involved in business decisions) * A strong background in people management is essential * A creative mindset with strong organisational skills * Computer literacy is essential About the Company We are a leading New Zealand based transport and logistics provider, offering integrated global supply chain solutions, including international freight, warehousing and doorstop delivery services for business and residential customers.
