Supportive team environment with a strong safety culture Multi-Skilled Civil Machine Operator Excavators | Christchurch We are seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Civil Machine Operator with a strong background in excavator operation to join our civil construction team. This is a hands on role working across a range of civil infrastructure projects, often within live environments. About the Role: You will primarily operate excavators on a variety of civil works including earthworks, drainage, services, and roading projects. You will also be expected to safely and competently operate other plant as required and work collaboratively with site crews to deliver quality outcomes. Key Responsibilities: - Operate excavators efficiently and safely across civil construction projects - Work around live services (water, power, gas, telecoms) with a high level of care and awareness - Carry out final trim, bulk earthworks, trenching, and backfilling - Operate additional machinery such as compaction rollers and wheel loaders when required - Follow site plans, levels, and instructions from supervisors and engineers - Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements on site Skills & Experience: - Minimum 5 years’ experience operating excavators in a civil construction environment - Proven experience working safely around live services - Ability to operate multiple pieces of civil plant (excavator essential) - GPS machine control experience is an advantage but not essential - Strong understanding of civil construction practices and site procedures Licences & Qualifications: - WTR endorsements preferred - Class 2 and/or Class 4 licence an advantage but not essential - Site Safe and/or other relevant civil tickets an advantage What We Offer: - Steady work on a range of civil infrastructure projects - Modern, well maintained plant and equipment - Supportive team environment with a strong safety culture - Opportunities to further develop skills and gain additional qualifications If this sounds like something you are interested in, please apply now or send your CV to Matth@franklinsmithgroup.co.nz or call 021 245 3840
