Restored Airfield Runway Edge Desk Lamp

Destined for the scrap heap, we saw an opportunity for these little guys to live again. Each fitting is perfectly imperfect, showing the wear and tear of years of trusty service. Runway edge lights outline the left and right sides of the runway. Pilots use the edge lights to align themselves with the runway during approach, take off & landing. If they could talk, I am sure they would have many stories to tell. Almost all of them about airplanes so it could get a little boring after a while… These stoic little beacons have been blasted back to bare metal, then repainted and restored to not quite their former glory - it’s the ‘chicks dig scars’ equivalent for desk lamps. With a small modification, an ES lamp holder and cord set have been installed, tested and given an electrical equipment compliance certificate. This is a not-for-profit exercise with all profits being donated to Starship Air Ambulance. With invoices totalling $182 per fitting to restore and convert, the price allows a donation of just over $100 per unit to Starship once GST and TradeMe success fees are covered. If we can sell all 54, this will mean a donation of over $5,000 to a great cause!
