Join a team with a focus on health and safety Independent Stevedoring Limited (ISL) is a company engaged in the loading / unloading of ships and related activities to serve our customers at the Port of Tauranga. Straddles carriers have a cab that is 11m from the ground and can carry a payload of 50 Tonne. Our straddle drivers are tasked with stacking and moving containers to and from vessels at the Tauranga terminal, along with servicing incoming and outgoing trucks and trains (R&D) and are provided full training to do this. About you You have NZ residency or citizenship, a great work ethic, and a proven track record of exceptional attendance and reliability • You have clear communication. We use handheld radios extensively in our working environment. Your ability to communicate well and be easily understood is important. • You are physically agile and able to climb an external ladder 11m from the ground to the cab. Our machines have a maximum operating capacity of 130kg, your weight does not exceed this. • You have great reflexes and a good driving track record with a current full NZ class 1 or 2 drivers license. • You are comfortable in your own company for extended periods of time. • Health and safety is important to you, and you can demonstrate this by sharing experiences from other workplaces. • Straddle operating experience or experience operating heavy machinery would be advantageous. The role On a day-to-day basis you will be required to: • Follow in-cab instructions for pick-up and discharging a variety of containers (20' and 40'). • Ensure you are punctual, and professional in all of your interactions with the customer and other service providers. Conditions of employment • Permanent full-time shift work • 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 schedule (days, night, and weekends) • In depth training will be provided with our team of dedicated trainers • Health and safety is important to us.
