Independent Stevedoring Limited (ISL) is a company engaged in the loading/unloading of ships to serve our customers at the Port of Tauranga. We are recruiting for some keen hands-on workers to join our stevedoring team. Stevedores are tasked with the manual labour involved with unloading and loading ships.
About you
You have NZ residency or citizenship, a great work ethic, and a proven track record of exceptional attendance and reliability.
• You have clear communication.
We use handheld radios extensively in our working environment. Your ability to be easily understood is important.
• You are physically fit.
This means you are comfortable with bending, lifting and controlled twisting motions, as well as repetitive lifting of twist locks and bars up to 25kgs for up to 5 hrs.
• You are a great team member and work well with others.
• Health and safety is important to you, and you candemonstatre this by sharing your experiences from other workplaces.
• Previous stevedore experience is advantageous, but not necessary.
Conditions of employment
• Permanent full-time shift work
• Up to 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 schedule (days, nights, weekends)
• Full training provided
• You will be regularly required to stand for prolonged periods (up to 5 hrs) on concrete surfaces.
• Health and safety is important to us. We'll keep you safe, and we expect you to follow the rules, and participate in regular random drug tests.
