Opportunities to grow leadership capability and develop training skills We’re looking for an experienced, customer-focused Barista to join the team at Caltex Porirua. This is a hands-on role within a busy service station environment—responsible for delivering consistently high-quality coffee and food, driving café sales with a strong focus on growth. Key responsibilities * Prepare and serve espresso-based coffee to a consistently high standard * Lead the café shift: set the pace, allocate tasks, and maintain service standards * Deliver excellent customer service and resolve customer issues professionally * Support stock control: ordering, receiving, rotation, and waste minimisation * Actively drive coffee and food sales through upselling, suggestive selling, add-on offers, and product knowledge * Maintain strong café presentation and merchandising: cabinets, signage, and availability of core food lines * Operate confidently in a service station setting—supporting counter service when required while maintaining café speed and quality * Maintain food safety, cleaning, and hygiene standards (front and back of house) * Work collaboratively with the Site Manager to meet sales, quality, and compliance targets About you * Proven barista experience with strong espresso skills (milk texturing and coffee consistency are essential) * High standards for cleanliness, food safety, and presentation * Confident communication and a calm, solutions-focused approach in busy periods * Sales-focused mindset with demonstrated ability to grow coffee and food sales (upselling, promotions, and meeting targets) * Experience in a high-volume café, quick-service restaurant, or retail/service station environment is an advantage * Reliable, punctual, and able to work a flexible roster (including some weekends/public holidays) * Current NZ work rights What we offer * A supportive team environment with a clear focus on quality and customer service. * Opportunities to grow your leadership capability and develop training skills. * Stable full time hours -Monday to Friday 6am until 1pm. * Competitive pay (based on experience) Apply by email to mary@darsco.co.nz
