About the role Reporting to the Quality and Environmental Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across Sanford's Wildcatch operations. This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll spend time onboard vessels, working alongside crews and operational teams, conducting inspections and audits, supporting environmental projects, and engaging with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities * Supporting environmental compliance across vessel and land-based operations * Maintaining and improving Sanford's Environmental Management System (EMS) * Conducting environmental inspections, audits, monitoring and reporting activities * Supporting sustainability projects and environmental improvement initiatives * Tracking and analysing environmental performance data, including emissions-related information * Managing environmental compliance records and reporting requirements * Supporting HSNO compliance and hazardous substance management * Assisting with environmental training and awareness programmes * Building strong relationships with operational teams, regulatory authorities, auditors and external stakeholders What we're looking for We're looking for someone who enjoys getting out into the operation and building relationships with people at all levels of the business. You may come from an environmental, marine, engineering, fishing, manufacturing, processing or operational background and be looking for an opportunity to combine your technical knowledge with practical, hands-on environmental work. Ideally you'll bring * Experience in environmental compliance, auditing or reporting * Experience working with Environmental Management Systems (EMS) * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills * A proactive and solutions-focused approach * The confidence to influence positive environmental outcomes and manage challenging conversations when required * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirements * Experience with hazardous substances management (desirable) * Environmental qualifications or relevant industry experience (preferred but not essential) * Experience within the fishing, maritime, marine engineering, aquaculture, manufacturing or processing industries would be highly advantageous If you're looking for a hands-on role where you can work alongside crews, support environmental improvements, and contribute to the future sustainability of New Zealand's seafood industry, we'd love to hear from you.
