Komet - about as top-shelf as you can get in the boutique amp world. You’ll struggle to find a better sounding, designed, and built amp. Original owner. Ordered direct from Komet with Zebrawood & Vox Fawn Tolex as upgrades. Received May 2025. Condition is pretty much as it came/mint. NZ Voltage. Original box. The Constellation is a Hogy original - a legend in his own right - see screenshot in pics for his description/explanation. The circuit itself is about as pure as you can get: Two parallel channels (one vintage voiced Octal 6SN7 preamp, and one higher gain 12AX7 preamp). No tone stack. No negative feedback. Can also use a 6SL7 for higher gain - although you won’t need it - there’s plenty of gain on tap if you want it. My take - this amp is nothing short of stellar. Incredible dynamics/touch responsiveness, whisper to scream with just your pick. Amazing clarity. Hogy’s voiced the circuit to perfection - no tone stack or pedals required - just plug and go. The amp wants to play - blooming into harmonic feedback/sustain, even when set relatively clean. Once you get used to the immediacy and harmonic content, it’s pretty hard to go back to pedals and long cable runs. Well over NZD12k to replace.
