With decades of industry experience behind us — and an exciting future ahead — we’re looking for the right person to join our team as an Operational Team Leader in our Machine Shop This role will suit someone who’s been on the tools, knows fitting and machining, and is ready (or already experienced) in leading a crew. You’ll be running workflow, supporting the team, keeping jobs on track, and making sure standards stay high. Learn more about us at: www.jpmarshall.co.nz ________________________________________ About the Role You’ll lead a team of Fitter Turners, CNC Operators, Apprentices, and support staff (up to 15 people), ensuring projects are delivered: - On time - To specification - To the high-quality standards JP Marshall is known for You’ll work closely with management and the wider Operational Leadership Team to drive efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. This is a hands-on leadership role — you’ll be equally comfortable on the tools, on the floor with your team, and coordinating projects with stakeholders. ________________________________________ What You’ll Be Doing • Leading and motivating a high-performing workshop team • Managing workflow, resources, and production schedules • Supporting project delivery from planning through to completion • Ensuring quality control and “do it once, do it right” standards • Coaching and developing apprentices and tradespeople • Driving continuous improvement and workshop efficiency • Maintaining strong health & safety leadership • Building positive relationships with clients and suppliers • Supporting a collaborative, solutions-focused culture ________________________________________ About You We’re looking for someone who brings both technical credibility and leadership capability. You’ll likely have: • Trade qualification in engineering / machining (or equivalent) • 5+ years engineering experience • 3+ years leadership or supervisory experience • Strong machining and fitting knowledge • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings • Proven planning and organisational skills • Confidence leading people and making decisions • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement • Full clean driver license Most importantly — you’re a team player with a positive attitude who wants to help others succeed.
