Are you a trade-qualified Maintenance Fitter who thrives in a fast-paced environment?
We are recruiting on behalf of a large-scale, well-established New Zealand-owned food processing facility in Canterbury. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity offering consistent hours, strong earning potential, and the chance to work within a highly professional engineering team.
Working rotational shifts, you will play a critical role in keeping production moving. Your ability to diagnose faults quickly, minimise downtime, and maintain plant reliability will directly impact operational performance.
This is not a breakdown-only role. It is a hands-on, solutions-focused position for someone who takes pride in preventative maintenance, quality workmanship, and safe work practices.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
• Preventive and reactive maintenance across automated plant and production lines
• Fault finding and breakdown diagnostics to reduce downtime
• Welding repairs (TIG, MIG, MMAW)
• Maintaining hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Supporting production teams with timely engineering solutions
• Ensuring all work meets strict health, safety, and food compliance standards
• Working collaboratively within a skilled trades team
What You Bring
• Relevant trade qualification in Engineering / Mechanical Maintenance
• Minimum 3+ years’ hands-on experience in a similar role
• Proven FMCG or high-speed manufacturing experience
• Advantage if you have welding capability (TIG, MIG, MMAW)
• Sound knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated machinery
• Experience within food processing or manufacturing environments preferred
• Strong problem-solving ability and calm approach under pressure
• Positive attitude with a proactive, team-focused mindset
