We run 2500 Honey units with 1500 queen rearing units focusing on Apple and Kiwi fruit pollination and honey production. Position/s Overview: Position: We are seeking a bee keeper/team leader . Key Responsibilities: This position will work along side our other bee keepers to produce honey, queen bees and provide pollination services. Daily tasks will include: Hive management: Build, maintain, and repair hives, including moving them to different locations. Splits Colony health: Regularly inspect colonies for signs of disease or distress, monitor populations, and provide supplemental feeding when necessary Disease and pest control: Prevent and treat diseases and parasites to keep the colony healthy and productive. Honey and product harvesting: harvest honey, beeswax, and other products, then process and package them. Queen breeding: Breed and raise queen bees and manage colony splits to maintain healthy hive populations. Physical fitness: The work can be physically demanding and may involve working long hours during the peak season Accurately record data and communicate digitally and verbally for record-keeping purposes. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS § Previous bee keeping experience but Apprentices are welcome to apply § Ability to work in a small team and driven § Class 2 is preferred § An understanding of beekeeping operations and practices. § Strong communication skills. § Ability to work outdoors and indoors. Which both handle physical tasks Must be a New Zealand citizen or resident, have a clean driving record, and no criminal convictions.
