As a Cook at Alden, you will be responsible for preparing and delivering nutritious, appealing meals that meet residents' needs while following food safety and hygiene standards. You'll work closely with the kitchen and wider facility team to ensure a positive dining experience for our residents. This is a part-time role, two days a week, ideally covering Sunday and Monday, although negotiable for the right person. The role also includes covering when our full-time Cook is on annual leave. Hours are 7.00 am to 4.30 pm. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys flexibility and working in a supportive aged care environment. ABOUT THE ROLE - Prepare and serve nutritious, attractive meals for residents - Follow food safety, hygiene, and health and safety requirements - Support special dietary needs in consultation with the dietician - Maintain kitchen cleanliness, stock levels, and equipment - Work collaboratively with the kitchen and facility team - Ensure meal services are delivered smoothly and on time - Provide cover for the full-time Cook during periods of leave - Be trained as a Kitchen Hand to provide additional cover when required ABOUT YOU To be successful in this role, you will bring: - Previous experience preparing meals, ideally in aged care or a similar setting - A good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards - A reliable, professional, and team-focused attitude - Respect for residents' cultural, spiritual, and personal needs - The ability to work well under direction and follow established procedures - A genuine commitment to providing quality service to residents - NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa Chef/Cookery qualifications, food safety certification, and first aid training are desirable but not essential.
