Description

Wilcox grows, packs, and distributes fresh produce for domestic and export markets, with operations in Northland, Pukekohe, Matamata, and Ohakune. We’re looking for someone passionate about horticulture and keen to grow themselves. You’ll need solid tractor and machinery operating skills, experience with spraying, and a willingness to learn and develop in cultivation, planting, and harvesting. As a Machinery Operator based in Matamata, you’ll be hands-on throughout the season, working closely with our full-time growing and production team and seasonal harvest crews to deliver top-quality onion, potato, and carrot crops. You may also have opportunities to support operations in other regions within the business. We are committed to developing our people and are open to considering candidates who may have fewer formal qualifications, provided they have strong machinery and tractor operating experience, including spraying, and a genuine interest in horticulture. This role would also suit a recent graduate with practical experience and a willingness to grow within the business. What You’ll Be Doing: Autumn – Support cultivation with precision groundwork and field preparation Winter – Onion bed preparation and assist planting operations Spring – Apply fertiliser and perform accurate crop spraying for optimum growth Summer – Contribute to harvesting high-quality crops of onions, potatoes, and carrots. Standard workdays are Monday to Friday, with weekend work required during peak periods.
