Maintenance Technician – Apple Orchard Development (Pendarves, Ashburton) Join the team at one of New Zealand's newest high-intensity apple orchards and help shape the future of our orchard development. **About the Opportunity** We’re growing something extraordinary in Pendarves. With the recent conversion of dairy land into a 250-hectare Rockit™ and Joli apple orchard, we’re harnessing modern infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and sustainable systems. This is your chance to be part of a visionary horticultural development from the ground up in a permanent role. **Role Purpose** The Maintenance Technician plays a key role in supporting the smooth operation of a large-scale orchard by providing mechanical, maintenance, and repair expertise. This role ensures that vehicles, machinery, and equipment are serviced, safe, and operating effectively to support orchard productivity. Equipment ranges from small petrol motors to large diesel engines, requiring a broad set of mechanical skills. **Key Responsibilities** * Service, repair, and maintain a wide range of orchard vehicles, machinery, and equipment * Support the Machinery & Infrastructure Coordinator with farm infrastructure upkeep (e.g. irrigation, fencing, sheds, tracks) * Maintain accurate records of repairs, servicing schedules, and parts used * Prioritise tasks while responding flexibly to urgent repair needs * Operate orchard machinery and equipment as required (e.g. cultivating, spraying, planting, irrigation – training provided) * Collaborate with orchard staff and contractors to ensure smooth daily operations * Uphold strong health and safety standards in all tasks **About You** We’re looking for someone who has a practical, hands-on approach to maintaining and repairing orchard machinery. You’ll be flexible and adaptable, able to shift focus as orchard priorities change, and work reliably with minimal supervision. A positive attitude and willingness to support others is essential to thrive in our team environment. **Skills and Experience** * Proven experience in mechanical maintenance and repair (agricultural, horticultural, or similar environment preferred) * Ability to service and repair a diverse range of vehicles, pumps, tractors, and orchard equipment * Practical problem-solving skills and ability to prioritise tasks * Competency operating orchard machinery (e.g. tractors, forklifts) beneficial * Strong teamwork and communication skills * Commitment to health, safety, and sustainability practices **How To Apply** If you are interested in joining our team, we want to hear from you!
