A bit about the role… We are looking to boost our Kitchen Design Team in our Porirua store with coverage in the bathroom department for one of the 5 days. We are looking for a positive and enthusiastic candidate who understands the importance of providing outstanding customer service to our trade and DIY customers. Kitchens are one of the key inspirational areas within our store with an exciting range of products. This role gives you an opportunity to use your flair to design and sell our kitchen range, helping our customers in all aspects of their kitchen makeover. Whether it is helping our customers design their new kitchen or select the right flat-pack options, along with the right kitchen appliances to suit their needs. You will also be able to grow your knowledge and skills base with working in the bathroom department as well Working in the Kitchen department means really listening to our customers' requirements and presenting the right solutions. Key Responsibilities:  Kitchen Design & Sales * Conduct in-depth customer consultations * Design kitchens using CAD software * Prepare detailed plans, quotations and presentations * Manage projects from concept through to installation * Coordinate with suppliers, installers and internal teams * Ensure accurate ordering and documentation Department Duties * Maintain showroom presentation and displays * Monitor stock levels and place orders where required * Liaise with suppliers regarding product availability and lead times * Assist with sales targets and department KPIs * Provide support to the wider retail team when required * Ensure health & safety standards are upheld * Maintain organised filing, job tracking and workflow systems We are looking for someone who brings: ? Strong retail customer engagement experience ? Confident, professional and approachable personality ? Advanced CAD design capability ? Excellent time management and organisational skills ? Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously ? Strong collaboration and communication skills ? High attention to detail and accuracy You thrive in a team environment but are equally confident managing your own workload. You understand that successful kitchen design is not just about creativity — it's about precision, planning and exceptional customer service. Previous retail experience and experience within this department (designer/cabinet making/joinery) is necessary, along with your ability to draft accurate CAD design in accordance with the customers needs.   A forklift license would be an advantage. Hours for this position are: Tuesday 9.30am -6.00pm, Wednesday 11.00am - 7.00pm, Thursday 7.00am - 3.00pm, Friday 7.00am - 3.00pm, Saturday 8.00am - 6.00pm Being skilled and knowledgeable does not automatically make you an exceptional Team Member at Mitre 10 MEGA Porirua.
