JOB DESCRIPTION
Shepherd – Rangitumau Farm - Wairarapa
We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual to join our team as a Shepherd at Rangi-tumau Farm, located 20mins from Masterton in the Wairarapa.
Our business consists of 1140ha sheep and beef, including a lease block. These two properties run from the Whangaehu Valley, Rangitumau to Kopuaronga. This is a great opportunity to be part of a progressive farming operation with a positive team culture and a focus on high-quality stock performance.
The role will primarily be based at our sheep and beef property, Rangitumau. Rangitumau Farm is 700ha, wintering 3000 ewes, 1000 ewe hoggets and 200 Angus cows, plus replacements. Majority of stock is finished. The role is 90% stock work with 10% general maintenance. You will also work collaboratively across the wider business as required.
Key responsibilities include:
Day-to-day stock work including mustering, animal health, and general stock husbandry
Regular record keeping, through Resolution
Assisting with pasture and grazing management
We are looking for someone who:
Has a positive attitude Is reliable, and self-motivated
Works well both independently and as part of a team
Has good communication and problem-solving skills
Has a well-controlled team of at least 3 working dogs
Previous tractor experience would be a bonus but not a must
