About Us Fortress Technology NZ Ltd designs and builds industrial metal detection and product inspection systems for the food manufacturing sector. Our Cambridge facility handles the full manufacture, assembly, tuning, and QA process for a wide range of high‑performance equipment, including metal detectors, checkweighers, and X‑ray systems. We work with tight tolerances, fast turnaround times, and a strong focus on quality and reliability. Although we’re part of a global engineering group, our local team operates as a specialised workshop — practical, technical, and always looking for ways to improve our processes and product performance. Electronics Technician – Cambridge Fortress Technology NZ is continuing to grow, and we are now ready to add another Electronics Technician to our Cambridge factory to support our expanding manufacturing team. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for: * Tuning metal detectors * Assembling auxiliaries for metal detectors, checkweighers, and X‑ray systems * Chuting metal detectors, including all available configuration options * Working collaboratively with the rest of the team to meet project deadlines Some background knowledge in the electrical field is required to understand the processes involved. The role includes daily use of soldering irons and oscilloscopes. Preference will be given to candidates who hold an Electrical Appliance Serviceperson qualification or higher. Our manufacturing lead times are short, and there is always equipment moving in and out of the workshop. We need a strong communicator who can help keep processes flowing smoothly and ensure our shipping dates are met. Health, safety, and quality are the primary focus of our production team. A full driver’s license is required. All tools and training will be provided. What success looks like: * Meeting tuning accuracy requirements on all QA test results * Maintaining build quality and documentation * Communicating effectively with the team * Actively following safe work practices and contributing to a safe work environment Work hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm, with a 30‑minute lunch break. If you’re looking for a hands‑on electronics role in a fast‑moving production team, send us your CV and a short introduction. We’re ready to bring the right technician on board as soon as we find them.
