Our 'Mana Whanau' team are seeking a full-time very experienced kaimahi to join them in providing intensive in-home whanau support in Porirua and Kapiti. Mana Whanau works with whanau who need intensive support to have their tamariki/rangatahi remain in their care or enable their tamariki/rangatahi to return to their care. Our kaimahi work in the whanau home to: * identify and reduce stressors * identify and reduce risk * build skills, capabilities and resilience in parenting and for life * extend whanau and community supports. Our Mana Whanau approach is informed by the belief that whanau know what works for them and that with the right support and resources, whanau can raise their children safely. You will be part of a small team that work in partnership with whanau and Oranga Tamariki and do 'whatever it takes' to help whanau develop and drive their own solutions. This is not an entry level role - you will be required to hold space to have courageous conversations and respond to risk and work under pressure. While not a requirement, it would be an advantage to hold a professional qualification related to the work. To join our team, you will: * be passionate about best practice in child protection and have proven experience of complex family systems * have experience of substance abuse and mental health issues and how to work in that space * have a "can do" attitude, be a team player and be able to work some planned early mornings or evenings if required * have a full clear driver’s license * be extremely well organised and computer literate and able to work under administrative deadlines * ideally, have social work or related experience, training or qualification. We can offer you: * a commitment to your health and well-being, including a compassionate approach to sick leave and in-house support when things get tough * regular professional supervision * opportunities for you to grow your skills and enjoyment in your mahi through in-house and external training courses.
