Description

Summary: Seeking a Channel Manager to champion banking partnerships and manage key merchant accounts, balancing strategic relationship building with hands-on problem-solving. Highlights: 1. Hybrid strategic relationship builder and hands-on problem solver 2. Agile team with backing from an iconic digital brand 3. Opportunity to shape the future of payments At Trade Me, we're about connecting Kiwi to create the life they want. Whether it's the big things like finding a home, a job, a car or growing their business, or the smaller things, like finding that right bedside table or parting ways with some old stuff. At Paystation, we're all about making online payments simple, secure, and straight-up for Kiwi businesses. As a subsidiary of Trade Me, we combine the agility of a small, tight-knit team with the backing of one of New Zealand's most iconic digital brands. We value community, teamwork, and a get stuck in attitude. We are looking for a Channel Manager; a hybrid strategic relationship builder and hands-on problem solver. You might be in a partnership account manager role currently. Your mission is two-fold: First, be our champion within the banking sector, working to unlock referral opportunities with New Zealand's major banks. Second, be the guardian of our largest merchant accounts, ensuring they receive the high-level care they deserve while mucking in with the wider team to solve technical and commercial challenges at the coal face. **Here is what you can expect from this role:** * **Bank partnership development**: Actively manage relationships with our key banking partners and drive new growth by cracking the code with the banks where we have untapped potential * **Key account management**: Own the relationship with our top-tier merchants, conducting regular check-ins to drive retention, reduce contraction and identify expansion opportunities * **Inside sales excellence**: Manage the end-to-end sales cycle for high-value inbound referrals, from initial inquiry to go-live * **Coal face support**: Jump into the thick of it with our support and technical teams to troubleshoot complex merchant queries or pricing negotiations * **Retention**: Occasionally things go wrong and we need to work hard to retain a customer. You'll be happy to pick up the phone and chat to them and have a plan to help retain their business and smooth things over * **Advocacy**: Be the voice of the customer and voice of the partner back into our product team to help shape the future of Paystation **What you will bring to our team:** * **Industry experience**: Proven background in Merchant Services, Payments or B2B Fintech within the NZ market * **Relationship grit**: Experience managing complex partnerships (ideally with NZ banks) and the ability to navigate large corporate structures * **Technical comfort**: You're not a developer, but you can explain a gateway integration and aren't afraid to look under the hood of a merchant's setup * **A muck-in attitude**: You're as comfortable presenting to a National Manager as you are helping a small merchant fix a billing error on a Friday afternoon * Existing networks within the big 5 NZ banks or the Trade Me ecosystem is a bonus **You'll have the best time working at Trade Me, and this is why:** **#AI & Tech:** We live and breathe AI in our daily tasks. We value curiosity and an open mind towards new tech, offering dedicated AI skilling to help you grow and thrive in a fast-changing landscape.** #Flexibility:** Flexibility means different things to different people and we support you to find what works, including a home office set up and utilities allowance. We value team connection and come together in person on Monday and at least one other day a week. **#Wellness:** Being your best self means caring for your physical and mental wellbeing, we offer lots of resources to help you along the way. **#Leave:** We support you with leave when you need it, including 5 days of wellness leave each year and 10 days of sick leave from day 1. **#Social:** Nothing beats getting together to have some fun and celebrate our success. Join us in the office on payday for company paid lunches. Regular Friday drinks and nibbles, annual Trade Me company awards, celebrations and more. **#Learning:** Whether it's on the job, formal training, mentoring or something else, you'll grow with us from Day 1. We know some candidates can be reluctant to apply for roles if they feel they don't 'tick all the boxes'. If you're excited about this opportunity, we'd still really like to hear from you so please send us your resume and a short cover note outlining the "Why".
