Contribute to projects improving transport networks and community infrastructure About the Role - Based in Christchurch We are seeking a driven and experienced Project Engineer to join our team delivering civil and traffic infrastructure projects across the region. The successful candidate will manage project delivery from planning through to completion, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, compliant and high-quality outcomes that meet programme, budget and technical requirements. Key Responsibilities * Plan, programme and manage project activities including scope definition, resource allocation, cost control and schedule monitoring to achieve project objectives. * Coordinate and supervise contractors, subcontractors and site teams to ensure works are carried out safely, to specification and on time. * Provide technical input to design development, resolve engineering issues on site and liaise with internal design teams and external consultants. * Monitor project financials, prepare cost forecasts, manage variations and assist with claims and contractual matters in line with company procedures. * Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental policies, conducting site inspections, toolbox talks and promoting a positive safety culture. * Maintain accurate project records, progress reports and client communications; attend site meetings and prepare meeting minutes and action logs. * Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, supporting professional development and continuous improvement initiatives. * Assist in tender preparation, cost estimating and procurement activities as required to support business growth. Skills & Experience – What You’ll Bring * Tertiary qualification in civil engineering. * Proven experience delivering civil, site-based project management and contractor supervision. * Sound understanding of construction methods, specifications, NZ standards and consenting processes. * Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills with the ability to build productive relationships with clients and teams. * Proficient in project management tools, MS Office and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documents. * Current NZ driver’s licence; willingness to travel regionally and work on site in varying weather conditions.
