Highlights: 1. Precision-focused role in heavy engineering, bringing blueprints to life 2. Varied work, from sawmill shafts to custom marine parts 3. Supportive team environment where expertise is respected Master of the Machine: CNC Operator (Heavy Engineering)Location: Rotorua, NZ | The Heart of Heavy Industry Are you the kind of operator who thrives on precision but isn’t afraid of heavy-duty scale? Do you look at a raw block of steel and see the high-performance component hidden inside? We are a titan of the Bay of Plenty engineering scene, known for building the massive systems that keep New Zealand’s timber and marine industries moving. From giant sawmill conveyors to specialized marine components, our workshop doesn't do 'small.' We do significant. We are looking for a skilled CNC Operator to join our Rotorua-based team and take command of the machinery that brings our blueprints to life. The Role: Precision at ScaleIn this role, you aren’t just pressing a green button. You are the link between a complex CAD drawing and a finished piece of heavy-duty machinery. - Set-Up & Operation: You’ll be responsible for setting up and running CNC lathes and milling machines to produce high-tolerance components. - Quality Control: At this level, 'close enough' isn't in our vocabulary. You’ll use micrometers and vernier calipers to ensure every part is accurate to the millimeter. - Material Mastery: Working primarily with heavy steel, you’ll manage tool offsets, speeds, and feeds to ensure the highest quality finish and tool longevity. - Problem Solving: You’ll work closely with our Fitter Turners and Design team to troubleshoot programs and optimize runs for one-off 'jobbing' repairs and large-scale builds. What You’ll Bring to the Workshop - Proven CNC Experience: You have a solid background in CNC machining (Lathes or Mills). Experience with manual machines is a huge plus. - Blueprint Literacy: You can read and interpret complex engineering drawings with ease. - Technical Precision: You’re an expert with precision measuring tools and have a sharp eye for detail. - The 'Heavy' Mindset: You’re comfortable working in a heavy engineering environment where the components are large and the stakes are high. - Team Spirit: You have a positive, 'can-do' attitude and great communication skills. Why Join Us? - Stability: A minimum of 40 hours per week guaranteed in a busy, secure workshop. - Variety: No two days are the same. One day you’re machining a shaft for a sawmill; the next, you’re working on a custom marine part. - Growth: We value our people and offer a motivated, supportive team environment where your expertise is respected. Ready to step up to the plate? If you have the technical grit to handle heavy engineering and the precision to master the machine, we want to hear from you. Ready to Join Us?
