About Us:
Parrotdog was conceived in 2011 out of a love for good beer by three guys named Matt. Today, we have grown this love for beer into an industry leading operation producing high quality beers, recognised as New Zealand’s Champion Large Brewery in 2024. An award-winning venue, Parrotdog Bar is a traditional-style bar featuring 17 rotating taps that showcase our range, complemented by a simple, high-quality burger menu.
The Opportunity:
This is a hands-on role working closely with the Kitchen Manager, where you’ll play a key part in the day-to-day running of the kitchen. You’ll contribute to menu development by collaborating with the team to create fresh, appealing dishes, while keeping an eye on food trends and customer preferences to ensure our menu stays relevant and exciting. Maintaining consistently high standards will be a core part of your role, from food preparation and presentation through to ensuring all food safety and health regulations are met.
Key responsibilities:
* Support the Kitchen Manager with daily kitchen operations
* Assist with menu planning and development
* Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and programmes
* Manage stock levels, ordering, and inventory control
* Improve kitchen processes and workflow efficiency
* Work collaboratively with front of house and wider team
* Step into additional duties in the Kitchen Manager’s absence (rostering, reporting, approvals)
* Promote and uphold strong health & safety practices
What You’ll Need to Be Successful in This Role:
* Previous hospitality and cheffing experience
* Proven ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment
* Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen compliance
* Leadership capability or readiness to step into a leadership role
* Culinary qualification (preferred but not essential)
