Certifying Plumber & Gasfitter – Petone, Wellington

We’re looking for a dual-qualified Certifying Plumber & Gasfitter to join our client's tight-knit, highly skilled team based in Petone. You’ll work across commercial and industrial sites including supermarkets, hospitals and prisons, keeping critical heating and hot water systems running safely and efficiently.
This is a hands-on, autonomous role with real variety, strong earning potential, and future opportunities to mentor apprentices as the team grows.
What the role involves:
You’ll take ownership of service, maintenance and certification work across a wide range of systems:
- Maintain and repair hot water cylinders, calorifiers and boilers
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on hot water and gas systems
- Identify and repair gas leaks using a gas analyser
- Replace hot water systems and work with backflow prevention & tempering valves
- Potential involvement with underfloor heating and radiator systems
- Complete and certify plumbing & gas work
- Use a tablet/phone for job tracking and timesheets
- Deliver great customer service onsite
What we’re looking for:
- Certifying Plumbing & Gasfitting dual trade qualifications and licence – essential
- Strong fault-finding skills and ability to work independently
- Experience with heating hot water systems (cylinders, boilers, calorifiers)
- Confident using a gas analyser
- Solid H&S mindset and willingness to complete company induction
- Own hand tools (oxyacetylene set desirable)
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, versatile mindset
