A Corrections Officer is one of those opportunities. \r\n\r\nNorthland Region Corrections Facility (NRCF) is nestled in the heart of Te Tai Tokerau. On the whenua of Ngati Rangi, NRCF has been operating since it's establishment in 2005. The site is a temporary home for the up to 527 men who reside within the walls. NRCF is a site with a strong passion for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, as well as with a strong focus on arts, including whakairo. Established as a facility it seeks to transform the approach towards caring for prisoners via the Hokai Rangi strategy, and the Maori Pathways project. You will engage with people in a positive way and will have the opportunity to not only change the lives of the people in Prison but also whanau by influencing change through your interactions. You will spend much of your time working within the unit(s) supervising the people in Prison with their daily routines, escorting them around the site to education programmes or other appointments. NRCF is a site with a strong passion for Rehabilitation and Reintegration, as well as with a strong focus on arts, including whakairo. Established as a facility it seeks to transform the approach towards caring for prisoners via the Hokai Rangi strategy, and the Maori Pathways project. This project seeks to establish a strong kaupapa Maori approach to the work that NRCF undertakes, whilst ensuring a strong focus on risk management and staff safety. Mo te tunga | About the role As a Corrections Officer you will be working in a challenging environment supported by a team of experienced professional colleagues. You will engage with people in a positive way and will have the opportunity to not only change the lives of the people in Prison but also whanau by influencing change through your interactions. You will spend much of your time working within the unit(s) supervising the people in Prison with their daily routines, escorting them around the site to education programmes or other appointments. You will monitor, assess and manage behaviour and safety, help control, and lessen any conflict within the unit(s).
