### **Overview** Technical interviews in analytics are changing. Live coding and trivia-style questions are slowly being replaced by **scenario-based technical problems** \- where interviewers care less about syntax and more about **how you think, clarify ambiguity, and structure solutions**, especially in a world where AI tools exist. This session breaks down: * Why this shift is happening * What interviewers are actually evaluating * How strong candidates approach scenario-based technical questions in real time This is not a coding workshop. It’s a **thinking workshop**. *** ### **What We’ll Cover** In this session, we’ll walk through: * **Why scenario-based technical interviews are becoming the norm** * **What interviewers are listening for** (even when you don’t reach a perfect solution) * How to: * Ask **high-value clarifying questions** * Think out loud without rambling * Break vague problems into **incremental, concrete steps** * Communicate trade-offs and assumptions clearly * Common mistakes candidates make when answering scenario questions We’ll also work through **example scenarios** and dissect what a strong response actually sounds like. *** ### **Who This Is For** This session is useful if you: * Are interviewing (or about to) for data / analytics roles * Have solid technical skills but struggle to “perform” in interviews * Want to understand how interviewers evaluate reasoning, not just correctness * Are navigating interviews in the age of AI-assisted work This is **not** aimed at beginners with zero exposure to analytics concepts. *** ### **Format** * 30 minute guided session * Live walkthroughs + discussion * Time for Q&A Small group. Active participation encouraged. *** ## > This session is run by Data Blokes - a small career coaching initiative focused on helping analytics professionals in Australia navigate interviews, CV positioning, and the current job market.
