Farm Accountant

Wilkins Farming Company is a well-established mixed livestock and cropping farming family business in Northern Southland with multiple trading entities covering livestock, cropping, transport, stockfeed and agricultural contracting. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Management Accountant to ensure the continuity of sound financial processes, analysis, and reporting across our organisation. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week based in our Wendonside modern office in a rural setting. Flexibility is negotiable for the right applicant. The successful applicant will hold relevant accounting qualifications and/or have management accounting experience that enables them to deliver high-quality financial outputs. Ideally, the successful candidate will have three or more years of full-time accounting experience; however, recent graduates with strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn will also be considered. The role will be focused on working with management and leadership around financial processes. The role is supported by our office team of accounts payable/receivable, Administration, Human Resources and Senior Management personnel. From time to time there will also be interesting project work which will require project specific analysis and report preparation. Key responsibilities include: • Management reporting for all stakeholders • Processing financial and taxation transactions and familiarity with NZ financial compliance. • Preparing, interpreting, and presenting financial reports and forecasts • Budgets, budget control, forecasting and cashflow management • Providing analytical insights to support decision-making • Overseeing payables and payroll We are looking for someone who is highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and advanced MS Office skills who is comfortable working with financial and business information systems. Experience in other software programmes such as Xero, Figured, Paysauce, Resolution would be an advantage. You will need an awareness of internal control processes and experience in process improvement. The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment is essential, along with the ability to work under pressure and independently manage workload to meet deadlines.
