This role is essential in delivering high-quality services while supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of the men in our care. We are looking for someone with a strong background in catering, sound financial understanding, and the ability to lead and develop a diverse team. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen environment, including planning and scheduling work, allocating tasks, and maintaining high standards of service delivery. You will also be expected to foster a respectful and inclusive team culture, while confidently managing a range of personalities and supporting staff development. Strong organisational skills are essential, along with the ability to work with spreadsheets such as Microsoft Excel to manage budgets, stock control, and reporting. You will be accountable for the smooth running of kitchen operations and will play a key role in building relationships with commercial partners and overseeing training and qualifications for the men in prison. This role contributes directly to Ara Poutama Aotearoa's Hokai Rangi Strategy by creating meaningful engagement and supporting positive outcomes for both staff and the men in prison. Please note, as this is a custodial role you will be required to go to our National Learning Centre in Upper Hutt for five weeks of training. Executing pre-shift and post-shift tasks, including thorough checks of observatory assets and systems. Keeping continuous communication with the control room throughout the shift. Upholding company protocols, including safe driving practices and handling public interactions with professionalism. Requirements Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and proven experience operating vehicles in a professional capacity. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and reporting data. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with the public and team members. Ability to work independently and make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Basic understanding of traffic laws and regulations in New Zealand.
