We’ve got an exciting Trainee Cable Jointer role in our Distribution Project Delivery Business Unit. This opportunity is a great pathway to attain National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Cable Jointing Distribution) levels 2, 3 and 4 in order to obtain EWRB registration as a Cable Jointer, making a real impact. Following this training, you will be able to complete the following tasks: • Identify electrical systems in preparation for work. • Work on electricity network structures. Maintaining, Jointing, installing and terminating Polymeric & PILC insulated cables up to and including 33kV. • Use cable jointing tools, machinery, plant and equipment in an electricity network environment. • Determine the condition of electricity supply LV and HV cables. • Apply earths to and removing earths from underground electricity supply conductors. • Understand work plans and drawings for construction and servicing of underground electricity supply cables and equipment. • Refer to documented work procedures and manuals. • Maintain specialised tooling, plant and equipment relevant to cable jointing tasks. • Complete testing and identification of underground cables as required • Joint pit rescue techniques and joint pit safety standards and requirements. • Confined Space Work. • Basic Traffic Management. • Liaise with Network Operations to receive understand and sign onto Access Permits. • Excavation and reinstatement of underground cables and back fill requirements. Qualifications and Skills • A minimum of NCEA level 2 is desirable but not essential • Previous experience and aptitude for outdoor work is desirable but not essential • Minimum age 16 • Class 1 Drivers Licence.
