We are looking for a commis chef who is passionate about cooking healthy food - someone who is reliable, self motivated, and detail-oriented! As a key support person in the kitchen (working directly under our head chef), your ability to listen and recall instructions will be essential to success. This role will require a good level of basic food knowledge and heavily utilise PRE-EXISTING knife skills. Core duties include: * cutting and prepping all ingredients for the salads * cooking/grilling proteins and vegetables * making and portioning out salad dressings * portioning and weighing finished salads * making soups, juices, nut milks, date puree & oatmeal * general all around kitchen cleaning Preference will be given to those applicants who have experience working in a commercial kitchen, however this position is well suited for a junior chef still studying in culinary school looking to gain valuable experience in the food industry. This role is approximately 25-30 hours per week: Monday - Wednesday 2:30pm - 7:30pm and Sunday 11am - 7pm. From next year, the hours will extend to Monday - Thursday 2pm - 7:30pm and Sunday 10am - 8pm. Hours are approximate and can vary based on how busy our two CBD stores are. Please note that we have our annual closure for 3 weeks from the 19th of December. This job is located in Rosedale on the North Shore, so living on the North Shore and/or having your own transportation to get to the kitchen is ESSENTIAL.
