Field Service Supervisor – Heavy Diesel / Mining Equipment Global Mechanical Global Mechanical provides specialised mechanical support to the earthmoving, civil, and mining sectors. Due to continued workload growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Field Service Technician ready to step into a technical supervisory role. Role Overview The Field Service Supervisor is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of heavy plant and mobile equipment. This role requires advanced technical competence across hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical systems, along with the ability to lead and support other field service personnel. You will be expected to perform high-level fault finding under pressure, carry out accurate root-cause analysis, and provide technical guidance to ensure equipment downtime is kept to a minimum. Key Responsibilities • Perform field diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on heavy diesel and mining equipment • Conduct advanced fault-finding using OEM diagnostic software and electronic control system tools • Oversee and support field service technicians on complex breakdowns and major component replacements • Complete detailed service reports, inspection sheets, and job documentation • Communicate technical findings and repair plans to customers and management • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with H&S legislation, OEM standards, and site compliance requirements • Assist with workflow planning and coordination of field service activities • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and professional conduct while representing Global Mechanical on site What You Bring • Minimum 5 years’ heavy diesel experience (ideal step up for senior techs ready for more responsibility) • Trade-qualified Heavy Diesel Mechanic • Confident diagnosing complex issues and making smart, fast decisions in the field • Strong communication and people skills — you know how to work with customers and support other techs • Health & Safety conscious with a commitment to doing things right the first time • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence What You’ll Receive • Company vehicle – take it home • Phone & laptop – fully provided • Competitive hourly rate + overtime • Real opportunities for growth as the business expands • Supportive, hands-on management that actually listens • A strong safety culture and a team that looks after each other This is a role where your experience is genuinely valued — and rewarded.
