




Mō te tūranga | About the role The Pakeke Centre is a trusted and welcoming community centre for older people. We offer enriching day programmes, social connection and pastoral care. The Programme Assistant role is an activity and support-based role providing day programmes, social outings, and pastoral care to support our clients to live and participate in their community. As a Programme Assistant you will be responsible for: • Planning, coordinating, and facilitating daily activities for our clients • Understanding clients’ needs and abilities and encouraging them to take part in activities • Assisting with packing up and storage of equipment • Driving the centre van for outings, client pick up and drop off when required • Supporting clients to participate in activities • Assist to provide nutritious meals and kitchen duties This is a permanent role working 19.5 hours per week. To be successful you will have: • An understanding of older people’s needs • A full clean driver’s licence and a clean criminal record and NZ residency. • Previous experience in planning and coordinating activities advantageous but not essential • A warm and caring personality with strong communication and listening skills • A strong moral compass with high professional ethics and personal values that align with our organisation. • Endless amounts of energy to motivate, inspire and engage our older people. • Commitment to Te Tiriti based practice, Te Reo and Tikanga Māori or a willingness to grow in this space This is a role that requires someone with a deep commitment to equity, the wellbeing of individuals, whānau and communities and making a difference in the lives of older people.
