As a General Duties Stevedore, you will be involved in a variety of tasks including forklift work, log marking and mark offs, rigging, log validation, maintenance of gear and other labouring duties. On offer are; * An hourly rate starting at $31.85 for entry level Stevedores with potential to earn higher rates when fully competent. * Guaranteed hours available equivalent to a minimum of 35 hours per week. No experience is required as full training is provided to work on the port, however you do need to be physically fit and motivated with the flexibility to work shifts in our 24/7 environment. Essential requirements for the position are: * ? Be able to work shifts up to 12 hours * ? Can follow instructions and adhere to procedures * ? Have a positive attitude * ? We are looking for suitably skilled staff to join our local port logistics team and require motivated, safety conscious staff who are experienced in the operation of cranes and heavy machinery. Our preference would be for operators who have experience loading log vessels, using ship's cranes, however this is not essential as full training, and support will be provided to applicants who are reliable, keen to learn and develop in a career as a Stevedore. If successful you will be employed with a primary function operating heavy machinery, such as Ship's Cranes as well as having the opportunity to perform other general duties. On offer is permanent work with guaranteed minimum hours per month. The opportunity to travel and work in ports outside of Nelson is also available from time to time. Hours of work can be irregular and vary due to shipping requirements.
