This is a bespoke job requiring lots of attention to detail and patience. The new team member will * be a valued member of the Lava Glass team, which creates the beautiful art glass pieces that are sold in our gallery and around the world. * be involved in cold working the glass to a high spec finish, using bespoke equipment to get the unique finishes on the glass. *have some opportunity to work in the hot studio with the glassblowers, learning to make some basic glassblown pieces, which you will then make in the studio for sale in the gallery * be involved in cooking up the raw material to make the glass. *keep the studio running efficiently and will need to assist Lynden with equipment repairs and other studio upkeep. * have an opportunity to assist the master glass artists in creating the iconic glass works of Lava Glass. The training for all aspects of this job will be done on-site. You do not need to have worked with glass before; however, this job does require someone who is practical, hands-on, possibly mechanical or has worked with other materials eg metal or wood.
