Mo te tunga | About the role You will play a key role in developing the next generation of highly skilled and disciplined soldiers. Youll deliver specialised technical training, equipping NZDF personnel with the knowledge and practical capability needed to operate and maintain advanced electronic, radio, and optical systems in demanding environments. This is one of the most technically advanced trades in the New Zealand Defence Force, where precision, professionalism and discipline are critical. Youll design and deliver engaging training, apply adult learning principles, and coach learners to achieve operational competence while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environments. Key responsibilities include: * Delivering high-quality instruction in the diagnosing and repair of electronics, instrumentation, radio, and optical systems used within the NZDF. * Preparing and tailoring lesson plans using appropriate instructional techniques. * Coaching, mentoring and assessing adult learners to build technical capability. * Supporting course development and continuous improvement of training materials. * Maintaining a safe, disciplined and high performing training environment. Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and Experience You'll bring a strong engineering background (electrical or electronic preferred) and a genuine interest in developing others. While prior teaching experience is advantageous, the key is your attitude someone who is motivated to learn, open to coaching, and keen to grow as an instructor in an technical adult learning environment. You'll be comfortable working in a structured, disciplined setting and able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively. Your ability to adapt, problem-solve and build strong relationships will be essential to success in this role. Were looking for someone who has: * A background in engineering (electrical, electronic or similar preferred). * Experience in diagnosing, maintaining or repairing technical equipment. * Strong communication skills with the ability to teach, coach and mentor others. * A positive, adaptable attitude and willingness to learn instructional techniques. * The ability to work in a disciplined environment and support the technical trade development of soldiers.
