If you're an existing Dispatcher seeking a change of scenery, an experienced driver ready to transition into an office role, someone with a background in supply chain management, or you have a passion for the transport industry and are keen to learn, this could be the career move you've been waiting for! It is a hands-on role so previous experience in the transport industry is desirable, but not essential. The successful applicant will be responsible for the scheduling and dispatch of Bulk trucks across the South Island, along with ensuring the most efficient use of resources, whilst managing driver’s workload and allocating daily jobs. In addition, the dispatcher will also manage relationships with key customers and will be responsible for other general dispatching and office duties. Our Rail Operators are a hugely important part of our business. Our teams work outside in our freight rail yards in all weathers in a physically challenging role where safety is of the utmost importance. You'll see yourself performing shunting duties. This means you'll link and unlink wagons, direct train drivers when coupling wagons and locomotives and place wagons into customer sidings (railway parking tracks). You'll be an essential part of conducting safety checks ensuring that all vehicles in the train are in a fit state to commence the journey. You will be working in a small team and be communicating via radio, so clear communication skills are essential. About this Role: As a Stevedore (Wharf Hand) you'll be part of a team responsible for the safe loading and unloading of cargo from ships on the Timaru Container Terminal.
