We are currently seeking Rail Operators to join our Wellington-based yard operations team in a safety-critical, hands-on role supporting the movement and preparation of trains across the network. In this role, you will play a key part in yard operations, ensuring the safe movement, inspection, and preparation of trains and carriages, supporting both Transdev electric multiple units (EMUs) and KiwiRail locomotive services. Rail Operators are a hugely important part of our business. We are committed to building your competence, confidence, and capability so you can make the right decisions and work safely in a high-risk operational environment. About the role This is a physically demanding role performed outdoors in all weather conditions, where safety, teamwork, and clear communication are essential. Your responsibilities will include: • Safe movement of rolling stock within rail yards • Coupling and uncoupling of carriages and locomotives • Brake testing and shunting activities • Inspection and preparation of trains for service • Strict adherence to the Rail Operating Code and Rules • Clear communication with colleagues across the rail network What we’re looking for We’re seeking reliable, safety focused team players who take pride in operational excellence.
