GNH Engineering is seeking a skilled Industrial Blaster Painter for our Cloncurry workshop. This is a permanent, full-time role based in rural Queensland.
We are a family owned Engineering/Manufacturing Business offering Turnkey Services from Machining, Steel Fabrication, Mining Equipment Repairs, Industrial Coatings and Rubber Lining. About the Role
You will be responsible for surface preparation and coating of heavy industrial assets, including structural steel, pipework, chutes, and hoppers. We operate a high-spec paint yard requiring precise application standards.
Key Duties:
* Abrasive Blasting: Preparing steel to SA 2.5 / SA 3 standards.
* Application: Spraying of industrial 2-pack epoxies, polyurethanes, and high-build systems (Jotun, Dulux, etc.). Using equipment including Graco Tritons & Graco King Pumps
* Technical Adherence: Strictly following Technical Data Sheets (TDS) for mixing ratios, induction times, and pot life.
* Complex Geometry: Coating intricate fabrication (hoppers, internal chutes) with even coverage and no defects.
* Quality Control: Managing DFT/WFT checks and visual inspections to ensure specification compliance.
The Candidate
We need a tradesperson who understands the requirements of the protective coating industry.
* Experienced: Strong background in industrial blasting and painting (workshop or heavy industry).
* Technical: Competent with 2-pack systems (e.g. Zinc Rich Epoxies, Epoxy Mastics, High Build Expoxies, Polyurethanes, etc).
* Detailed: Ability to read specifications and deliver a high-quality finish.
* Equipment: Capable of maintaining and troubleshooting airless spray equipment. (Assistance provided by workshop team where needed)
