CLAY PRODUCTS MACHINE OPERATOR
* Full-time, Permanent
* Timaru, South Canterbury
* $25–$30 per hour (depending on experience)
* Minimum 30–40 hours per week
* Standard work hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00am–2:30pm
* Some weekend work as required
Our client is a specialist manufacturer of high-performance ceramic insulators used in the electricity distribution and transmission industry. Based in South Canterbury, our client's facility uses traditional craftsmanship and modern technology to produce robust, high-quality products that are exported globally.
The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Clay Machine Operator to join the production team. This hands-on role involves operating machinery and equipment involved in the production of ceramic insulators. You will be responsible for a range of tasks throughout the production process to ensure quality and consistency in all products.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate clay-shaping machinery, including lathes and CNC machines
* Perform lathe turning of clay-based materials to precise specifications
* Operate kilns for drying and firing ceramic products
* Apply glazing and waxing processes to finished goods
* Conduct pull testing and quality checks for durability
* Carry out gritting and surface finishing
* Assist with packing and preparation for dispatch
* Follow all health and safety procedures and production protocols
Skills and Experience RequiredTo be successful in this role, you will need:
* At least 2 years of experience in a similar role involving ceramic or clay product manufacturing
* Competence in operating machinery such as lathes, kilns, or CNC equipment used in clay product manufacturing
* Experience with processes such as glazing, waxing, gritting, and testing ceramic products
* Strong attention to detail and quality control
* Good physical fitness and the ability to work in a production environment
* Ability to pass drug screening
Additional Information
* The position is full-time and permanent.
* Standard hours are 6:00am–2:30pm, Monday to Friday (Minimum 30 - 40 hours per week).
* Some weekend work as required
* Pay rate is $25 to $30 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
* The role is based in Temuka, South Canterbury.
