Supportive, understanding, and inclusive environment The Kilbirnie Lyall Bay Community Centre was established in 1992 and funded by the Wellington City Council. Governance is provided by a volunteer Management Committee. Vision: A diverse and vibrant community that promotes wellbeing, where everyone is able to participate and socialise in a safe and respectful environment. Mission: To support community wellbeing and provide services and facilities that enable diverse groups to participate and socialise in a safe and respectful environment. The KLBCC is seeking a multi-skilled individual looking for an interesting and diverse position making a difference in the community. This position is a permanent part-time position with opportunity for extra hours on occasion with a small tight knit team. The ideal candidate will be someone with a passion for community service and a strong sense of self. Training will be provided, as well as the option to take ongoing skill-building workshops such as First Aid Training, Descalation, and Community Outreach Courses. Private parking is available. Administration: Working in the KLBCC Office, closely supporting the Coordinator with daily agendas and administration to keep the Centre running smoothly by managing social media, preparing newsletters, organising event bookings, taking phone calls, making flyers, etc. Drop in Staff: People-facing, chatting with locals and serving tea/coffee, setting up and packing down, and helping coordinate Regularly Scheduled community activities such as Art Groups, Sing-a-Longs, Film showings, etc. This role would suit someone looking for: *Part-time, long-term work *Diverse daily routines and highly social atmosphere *Independence and self-sufficiency *Small close team of staff and volunteers *Supportive, understanding, and inclusive environment *Creative opportunity for expression and new ideas *Position that makes a difference in the community *Job that can require physical movement as well as office work *Place to share your unique personality and background This position requires someone with: *IT and social media literacy *Administrative and creative skills *Ability to work both in a team and independently *Emotional intelligence and self soothing abilities *Warmth and enthusiasm *Experience working with diverse and at-risk populations *Ability to remain calm under pressure *High written and verbal skills *Good judgement, intuition, and problem-solving skills Hours: 20/week Mondays 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Wednesdays 9:00 am - 3:00 pm Thursdays 12:00 pm - 3:30 pm Fridays 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Rate: $26/hr Successful applicants will be eligible to work in New Zealand and will be police vetted.
