Join ANZCO Foods as a Laboratory Manager working at our Eltham site. As the Laboratory Manager you will manage a small but enthusiastic laboratory team, the position is on day shift but does include a weekend rotational roster. The Eltham laboratory holds IANZ accreditation to support the testing requirements for both ANZCO and 3rd party customer requirements. In this role you will lead a team that provides quality Laboratory technical assistance which meets all ANZCO Foods standards and compliance requirements. We are ideally looking for a person who is currently qualified to act in a Laboratory Manager or equivalent role in support of the Laboratory’ s microbiology accreditation. The Laboratory Manager oversees all reporting of any analysis completed as well as the daily management of the laboratory staff and its operation. Role responsibilities: * Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory staff and facilities * Responsible for the provision of suitable and adequate consumables and equipment to ensure analyses are conducted to a recognised standard. * Maintaining the laboratory quality and procedural manuals * Ensures that technically competent and skilled staff are appointed. * Responsible for ensuring staff are suitably trained, are competent to perform their work and the maintenance of training records. * Ensure that any problems identified are investigated, recorded, and resolved effectively. * Liaises with Production, Compliance and MPI representatives regarding monitoring activities and reports. * Liaises with Taranaki Regional Council representatives regarding effluent and environmental matters. * Maintaining up-to-date technical manuals and documents * Develops new methods and procedures, as required. * Ensuring that all procedures comply with the requirements of accreditation under MPI’s Animal Products Notice: Specifications for Laboratories notice and NZS ISO/IEC 17025 * Ensure ANZCO H&S Policies are observed at all times. Skills and experience we are looking for: * A proactive and focused approach to the tasks and responsibilities associated with the role. * An extensive knowledge of the regulatory requirements of the meat processing laboratory environment * Experience with the supervision/management of staff * Excellent computer literacy, written and verbal communication skills. * Proactive, motivated with an enthusiastic outlook * Ability and willingness to persevere with both challenging and routine tasks. * Ability to plan and prioritise tasks. * Analytical ability ANZCO is a leading participant in the New Zealand meat industry.
